My Story
It all started with my Grandmother....
When I was growing up as a young girl, I had the the best Grandmother anyone can ask for. She was generous, loving, affectionate, and showered me with a lot of attention. One of the things that I remember most was when I was sick, she would come over with all of her homemade medicines and teas and always made me feel better. She grew up in her beloved Puerto Rico, and was able to turn herbs and flowers into beautiful healing teas and salves. Sadly, she passed away when I was only 8, but her loving ways and homemade items always left an impression on me, to this day.
Welcome to Sana Rose Apothecary
And here I find myself, many years later with a love for bath and body products, but not a love for the unhealthy, synthetic ingredients they're made with. I always remembered how my Grandma made her own items, and this has inspired me to create my own products and start 'Sana Rose Apothecary'. Sana is for the saying my Grandma would always comfort me with when I was sick: 'sana sana, colita de rana, si no te alivias hoy, te alivias manana', which translates to 'heal heal little tail of a frog, if you don't heal today, you will heal tomorrow'. Rose is for my favorite flower, which also has many healing properties. And finally Apothecary, because my goal is to make products that heal, just like my Grandma did.
My Products
Our skin is the largest organ that we have, so why not nourish it with the best? All of my products are handmade with lots of love, using good for you ingredients, all in small batches. My soaps are made the old fashioned way using the cold process method, and then cured for 4-6 weeks. Each bar varies slightly in size and shape; I aim for 4 ounces each.
My Commitment to Quality
I use the highest quality oils and butters, like olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter. All of my soaps are made with essential oils or fragrance oils. I also locally source the ingredients whenever possible, like fresh goat milk from Lancaster, PA farms. My products do not contain artificial colors, detergents, and parabens.
